Finding Program Pages and Older VODs After a Broadcaster Reorganizes Its Website
A broadcaster redesign can make an old television program look as though it has disappeared. A bookmark may suddenly return a 404 error, redirect to the network homepage, or open a new site where only current programs appear in the main navigation. That does not establish what happened to the VOD itself.
The program page may have moved while the replay remains available. The program information may survive while full episodes have expired. Clips may remain even though the full replay is gone. In other cases, an old page can still be reconstructed through a web archive even though the broadcaster no longer has rights to provide the video. A reliable search therefore separates website location, program identity, and current playback rights.
Program Identity Before Site Migration
Before searching the reorganized website, establish exactly which program and episode you are looking for. The program title alone can be unreliable. Broadcasters reuse similar names, revive old formats, create regional editions, and publish specials under titles close to the original series. Use the broadcaster's official terminology from schedules, program pages, press releases, or old notices whenever it is available.
Record:
KBS's current site still maintains dedicated ended-program sections rather than limiting discovery to programs currently on air. Its drama directory, for example, separates ended drama, entertainment, and current content.
MBC also retains ended program pages that show their historical broadcast periods. An older MBC program can therefore still provide useful identity information even if a particular replay has disappeared.
Current Menu Structure and Integrated Search
After identifying the program, search the broadcaster's present structure instead of relying on the old navigation path.
A redesign often reorganizes programs by:
- channel
- drama, entertainment, news, or culture
- current versus ended programs
- full replay versus clips
- video versus news
- region or local station
KBS currently operates a central VOD service with program listings and ended-program access, so an old program may be discoverable from the VOD service even when its former homepage path no longer works.

MBC program pages similarly expose separate menu items for replay and clips. Even ended shows can retain this program-level navigation after broadcasting has finished.

If the default search shows only recent programs, look for an ended-program or all-program view before concluding that an older show is absent.
Legacy URL Redirect Outcomes
An old URL should be tested before it is discarded because the redirect behavior provides useful evidence.
There are three common outcomes.
Program-specific redirect
The old address opens the redesigned page for the same program. Compare the title, broadcast period, episode list, and program description before replacing the saved bookmark.
Generic homepage redirect
The old URL sends every visitor to the broadcaster's front page. This does not prove that the program was deleted. It only shows that the broadcaster no longer maintains a direct mapping from that old route.

Search those values together with the official program name.

A homepage redirect should not later be cited as though it were the replacement program page.
Full-Episode VOD and Clip Archive Separation
Finding an official video from the right broadcast date does not necessarily mean you found the full episode.
SBS makes this distinction particularly visible. Its program pages maintain separate full replay and broadcast-clip areas, and older clip archives can contain individual videos organized by episode date.
MBC program pages also commonly display 다시보기 and 클립영상 as separate functions.
Use three fields to classify a result:
episode date → description → runtime

Several clips can share the same date as the complete episode. Do not use the date alone.
A clip can still be useful if the full VOD has expired, but describe it accurately as surviving official footage from the episode, not as the complete broadcast.
Rights Expiration and Archive Policy
A broken website path and an unavailable VOD are different problems.
KBS's current viewer-support guidance says availability of old programs depends on replay-service policies and directs viewers to KBS VOD, KBS+, Wavve, and individual program pages where applicable.
This matters because the broadcaster may retain:
- the program introduction
- cast information
- episode titles
- photographs
- news articles
- short clips
while no longer providing the full program video.
The remaining program page therefore does not prove that full-replay rights remain active.
When the program page exists but the desired VOD does not, check:
official program notices → broadcaster customer support → licensed OTT services
Ask specifically whether the episode is unavailable because of:
- copyright or licensing
- retention policy
- program-specific distribution terms
- migration to another official service
This is more reliable than assuming the redesign accidentally deleted the video.

A missing broadcaster replay should not be confused with a slow file transfer.

Libraries and audiovisual archives
For programs important to research or cultural history, check library catalogues or public archive holdings even when home streaming is unavailable.
Do not replace a missing official VOD with an unidentified reupload simply because the unofficial copy is longer. A complete-looking copy does not establish its source, edit history, or permission status.
Wayback Machine Page Evidence
The Wayback Machine is useful for recovering historical page information, but it should not be confused with the broadcaster's current video service.
Internet Archive's official guidance describes the Wayback Machine as a way to inspect previously captured versions of webpages. When an archived site is incomplete, links may be resolved using the closest available archived capture rather than the exact date originally requested.
Useful historical evidence can include:
- old program title
- broadcast schedule
- cast list
- episode descriptions
- navigation labels
- press notices
- old URL patterns
Internet Archive also notes that not every page is captured; pages may be absent because of crawl exclusions or requests from site owners.
Dynamic functionality is another limitation. An archived HTML page may survive while the original broadcaster's authentication system, media server, JavaScript request, or DRM playback environment no longer functions. Therefore, an old page opening successfully does not establish that its embedded VOD can still be played.

Those statements prove different things.
The first proves what the page looked like historically.
The second describes whether the broadcaster or another rights holder currently provides the program.

For an older program that is difficult to trace, keep one consolidated record:

This order avoids the two most common mistakes.
A dead URL does not prove that the broadcaster deleted the program.
